Summary

Your summary appears here. Paste text (or try a sample), choose a format, then press Summarize.

How to use the essay summarizer

  1. Paste the essay, your own draft or one you are studying.
  2. Keep Key points for the argument map, or choose Paragraph for a prose summary.
  3. Press Summarize and compare the thesis it found with the one you intended.

Use it to check your own draft

If the summarizer cannot find your thesis, your reader might not either. Summarize your draft before you submit it: when the “Thesis” line matches what you meant to argue and each body paragraph shows up as one argument, the structure is working. When two arguments collapse into one, or a paragraph vanishes, that is where to revise.

Summarizing essays you read

For essays on a reading list, the argument map makes seminar prep faster: you can see at a glance what the author claims and what evidence each claim rests on, which is exactly what a discussion will probe.

It will produce a summary, but most schools consider handing in AI-written text as your own a breach of academic integrity. Use it to understand and check structure, then write in your own words.

What if the essay has no clear thesis?

The summary will state the closest thing to a central claim it can find, which is itself a useful signal that the thesis needs sharpening.

How long can the essay be?

Up to 60,000 characters, around 9,000 words.
